The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an end to end application level protocol for establishing, terminating and modifying sessions and has experienced widespread use in IP networks due to its distinguished features such as being text based, independence from the underlying network, and more importantly supporting various types of mobility. In fact these features have lead SIP to be used as the core signaling protocol in the IP Multimedia Subsystem, which is the control plane proposed for next generation networks by the 3GPP community. Nevertheless, the performance of SIP servers when used by the millions of users of the next generation networks is not well established. In this paper we evaluate the performance of SIP servers using a test bed developed at the Iran University of Science & Technology. We consider eight different configurations for SIP server and also study the effect of using TCP and UDP as the transport protocol for SIP packets. We measure several parameters including call setup delay, call failure rate and SIP server throughput. Our results suggest that using SIP in large networks require using special techniques for balancing the load of SIP servers as well as mitigating temporary overloads.  Manuscript profile

Although Sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SPMVs) algorithms are simple, they include important parts of Linear Algebra algorithms in Mathematics and Physics areas. As these algorithms can be run in parallel, Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) has been considered as one of the best candidates to run these algorithms. In the recent years, power consumption has been considered as one of the metrics that should be taken into consideration in addition to performance.  In spite of this importance, to the best of our knowledge, studies on power consumptions in SPMVs algorithms on GPUs are scarce.  In this paper, we investigate the effects of hardware parameters on power consumptions in SPMV algorithms on GPUs. For this, we leverage the possibility of setting the GPU’s parameters to investigate the effects of these parameters on power consumptions. These configurations have been applied to different formats of Sparse Matrices, and the best parameters are selected for having the best performance per power metric. Therefore, as the results of this study the settings can be applied in running different Linear Algebra algorithms on GPUs to obtain the best performance per power. Manuscript profile

In this study Data envelopment analysis is used for the assessment of enterprise resources planning systems of 18 manufacturing companies, to determine whether the defined goals for ERP systems have been able to affect the performance after the implementation of the system. Considering the identification of effective factors in implementing ERP systems and using the previous researches, the performance evaluation criteria of this system were identified. Then, using experts’ views the most important input indicators were ranked by fuzzy DEMATEL and output indicators by ANP. In this ranking, time spent on implementation, the implementation infrastructure, training and user support were identified as top input indicators, and three indicators of productivity increase, proper resource management and user satisfaction were selected as top output indicators. Using selected indicators, the performance of ERP systems of selected companies was evaluated. The results of this research will be useful in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of companies compared to top ones and making their ERP system even better. Manuscript profile

Nowadays, increasing the processing power of supercomputers is a worldwide race. This race, signifies the importance of supercomputers in the current era. They are engines of improving technology in almost all scientific areas, such as computational biology, earth sciences, cosmology, fluid dynamics, and plasma modeling, to name a few. Next generation of supercomputers can be divided into two broad categories: 1) emerging technologies such as neuromorphic and quantum computing and 2) Exascala computing. Emerging technologies will be the future of supercomputing, however, not in a very recent future. Therefore, in this paper, we have focused on Exascale computing, and have tried to provide a comprehensive overview of the main requirements for this technology to be achieved and become available. Requirements have been overviewed from different aspects; hardware, software, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. In addition, we have attempted to provide a complete taxonomy of hot research topics within this area. Manuscript profile
